Sean Kauhini
Biography
Sean Kauhini is a composer, vocalist, and flautist based in Honolulu. His compositions draw on the 'mixed plate' of languages and musical traditions that coexist in Hawaiʻi. ​​

As a composer, he has participated in a number of composition festivals and programs, including the inaugural Harvard Choruses New Music Initiative and the inaugural Connecticut Summerfest (both in 2016). He considers Philip Lasser, Chaya Czernowin, and Robert Kyr his most important composition mentors.

As a vocalist, he has performed as a member of Harvard Glee Club, Harvard University Choir, and Yale Schola Cantorum. ​​He studied voice with Charles Blandy, Frank Kelley, and Gene Stenger.
​
Since 2022, he has been singing in the choir at St. Andrew's Cathedral in Honolulu and regularly composes music for their worship services.
